Youth Congress President Uday Bhan Arrested After Protest Outside PM Residence

New Delhi: Haryana Youth Congress President Uday Bhan was arrested in New Delhi after leading a protest near the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The demonstration was held against the recently announced India-US trade agreement.

According to officials, Uday Bhan was booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to unlawful assembly, disobedience to public servant orders, and obstruction of public officials in the discharge of their duties.

Protest at PM’s Residence

The protest was reportedly staged at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, the official residence of the Prime Minister. Youth Congress members raised slogans and expressed opposition to the trade agreement, claiming it would adversely impact Indian farmers and small businesses.

Authorities said Uday Bhan was taken into custody along with Haryana Youth Congress state president Atul Mahajan and several party workers. The police stated that the protest violated restrictions in place around high-security zones in the national capital.

Opposition to India-US Trade Agreement

Addressing party members before his arrest, Uday Bhan alleged that the India-US trade agreement would negatively affect domestic industries and agricultural interests. He termed the deal “anti-farmer” and accused the government of compromising national interests.

Youth Congress leaders claimed that their demonstration was a democratic expression of dissent. However, Delhi Police maintained that necessary action was taken to maintain law and order in the high-security area.

Legal Action Under BNS

Officials confirmed that the FIR includes sections related to unlawful assembly, disobedience of public servant orders, and obstruction of duty. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
